If so, could you point me to where I can find it? I've been searching your site and haven't had much luck yet. I reverse engineered the format for our itisLib client library, but it would be good to be able to reference a schema for our future work. Sorry you couldn't make it to DC for the taxonomy nomenclature standards meeting -- it would have been good to have you there. I guess I'll see you in Kansas in November? There are quite a few differences considering they supposedly house the same data! Paula, you'll have to call me to get account information to access CVS (today would be great). Bob, you should already have access. Once you have your accounts set up, you can get the files with the following CVS information: Module: bdgw CVSROOT: :ext:yourusername at cvs.ecoinformatics.org:/cvs CVS_RSH: ssh If that makes no sense to you, don't worry -- contact me and I'll help you get CVS set up. Once its set up, its pretty easy to use. In the meantime, you can also access all of the files from the web at: http://cvs.ecoinformatics.org/cvs/cvsweb.cgi/bdwg/ I didn't do anything yet in terms of content except set up a structure to contain the eventual schema (taxonstd.xsd). Its got a single element in it now. Bob, do you want to take a first pass at enumerating what should be in the schema -- you could do that by outlining an instance document if you would prefer, and I could convert that to a schema pretty easily. Harmonizing your proposal with the two ITIS DTDs would probably be useful. I'm traveling for the rest of the week, so I'll probbaly not get back to this until next week. See ya... Of course it is specifically tailored to zoological interests (ie name seems to imply epithet in parts, rather than combination... valid..., etc.), but it is worth a read.
